Steps to do Lymphatic Breast Massage

1. Start with the Lymph glands in the neck and gently stroke down to the top of the collar bone.Feel the hollow spot behind the collar bone and gently stretch the skin from the shoulder down towards the center of the body (at the bottom of the throat).This opens the lymph passages.

2. Gently stretch the skin under your arm towards your armpit. Go deep into the armpit, massage it with your finger.

3. Measure 3 fingers above and below your nipple and start massaging in small circular motions using your knuckle.

4. Gently massage below the breasts in an upward circular motion towards the armpit, ending by applying pressure at the Lymph nodes.

5. Massage by vibrating your hands upwards in the direction shown.

6. Push from back to front in inward direction and do the same in upward direction.

7. Massage in “figure of 8” as shown.

Damage to the lymphatic system can cause fluid and waste to build up and this can lead to swelling called Lymphedema. Breast massage help stimulate the lymph vessels and reduce the risk of Lymphedema in the arms and chest. A more recent study from 2017 found some evidence that manual stimulation was effective.
